Author FAQ

Clear answers about submissions, publication, production, distribution, marketing, author copies, and royalties.

What kinds of books does Veritas publish?

We consider serious nonfiction and compelling fiction, including faith and theology, history and culture, society and ideas, politics and public life, Christian living, literary nonfiction, biography and memoir, literary and Christian fiction, historical fiction, suspense, thriller, crime and mystery, psychological fiction, and selected works of conviction.

Does submitting a manuscript guarantee publication?

No. We are selective. Submission begins an evaluation process and does not constitute an offer of publication.

Who edits and designs the book?

The publication process includes editorial development and professional cover and interior production appropriate to the manuscript and the terms of the publishing agreement.

Will my book receive an ISBN?

Applicable editions are assigned or prepared with ISBN information as part of the publishing process. The specific ISBN arrangements are addressed in the publication and contractual documentation for the title.

Will my book have publication details such as pages, format, publication date, and publisher information?

Yes. The final publication record for an edition can include title, subtitle, author, publisher, edition, publication date, ISBN, format, page count, trim size, copyright information, categories, keywords, and applicable bibliographic or library information.

Where will my book be distributed?

Eligible titles may be made available through established retail, bookstore, and library distribution channels, including Barnes & Noble and Ingram-served independent bookstore channels in the United States, as well as supported library platforms such as OverDrive, cloudLibrary, Hoopla, and BorrowBox. Availability varies by title, format, territory, and channel.

Does distribution mean bookstores will automatically stock my book?

No. Distribution makes an eligible title available for ordering through a channel; individual bookstores and libraries decide what they acquire, stock, display, or feature.

What marketing support does Veritas provide?

Marketing can include publisher website presence, catalog visibility, launch announcements, social and digital promotion, promotional assets, author features, metadata support, and relevant publicity opportunities, depending on the title and publishing plan.

What can I do as an author?

Authors can introduce books to relevant bookstores and libraries, participate in interviews and podcasts, share launch materials, build reader communities, encourage genuine reviews, arrange appropriate events, and use their own professional and personal networks to help the book reach readers.

Can I purchase copies of my own book?

Where author-copy purchasing is available, authors can purchase copies at the applicable production/printing cost plus shipping and handling. These copies can be used for launches, events, promotion, gifts, review outreach, and other legitimate purposes.

How are royalties handled?

Royalty terms are defined in the publishing agreement. The agreement should identify the applicable royalty basis, formats covered, relevant deductions or adjustments, reporting period, statement schedule, and payment schedule.

Where can I find the exact financial terms?

The signed publishing agreement for your title is the authoritative document for exact royalty percentages, rights, costs, obligations, payment schedules, and other contractual terms.
