For Authors

Bring us a serious manuscript.

We welcome established, emerging, and first-time authors whose work demonstrates originality, substance, strong writing, and a clear purpose.

Why submit to Veritas?

We created Veritas Covenant Press, in part, to give serious writers another opportunity to be heard. We understand how difficult it can be for an author—particularly a first-time or emerging author—to find a publisher when commercial profile, platform, or industry connections become barriers.

We want to provide another door. We believe a strong manuscript should be considered for what it is—not only for the size of its author's existing audience.

At the same time, we are a selective publisher. We cannot publish every manuscript we receive, and submission does not guarantee publication. We look for books with substance, originality, literary quality, a distinctive voice, and a clear reason for readers to care.

Our goal is not simply to publish more books. Our goal is to publish books worth reading.

Submission Procedure

Please prepare your submission carefully. A professional submission helps us understand both the book you have written and the author behind it.

1. Cover Letter

Introduce your book and yourself briefly. Include the title, genre/category, approximate word count, manuscript status, a concise description, relevant author background, and why you believe the book is a good fit for Veritas.

2. Pitch

Give us a clear and compelling description of the book. Tell us what it is about, what makes it distinctive, who the intended readers are, and why readers will want to read it.

3. Comparable Titles

Provide 2–5 comparable titles and briefly explain how each is similar to and different from your book. These help us understand your intended readership and marketplace position.

4. Synopsis or Book Proposal

For fiction: include an overview, synopsis of the complete story, principal characters, major themes, genre, approximate word count, and intended readership. The synopsis should reveal the ending.

For nonfiction: include the overview and central thesis, purpose, intended readership, importance/timeliness, comparable titles, author qualifications, marketing platform if applicable, proposed table of contents, chapter summaries, approximate word count, and sample chapters.

5. Sample Chapters

Please include the first five chapters of your manuscript, or approximately the first 50–75 pages where the chapter structure makes that more appropriate. For nonfiction, you may submit the chapters that best represent the book if the first five chapters are not the strongest sample.

Your sample should be carefully edited and professionally presented. Please do not submit a rough or unfinished draft.

What happens after you submit?

Every submission is evaluated on its individual merits. We first consider whether the work fits the scope of our list, followed by editorial consideration of the writing, concept, structure, originality, audience, and overall potential.

Selected manuscripts may receive further editorial review. If we believe the work is a strong fit for our list, we will contact the author regarding the possibility of publication and next steps.

Submission does not constitute an offer of publication. Evaluation times may vary depending on submission volume and the nature of the work.

What we look for

Strong writing — clear, engaging, purposeful prose.
Originality — a distinctive perspective, story, argument, or approach.
Substance — books that have something meaningful to say.
Conviction — a clear sense of what the work is trying to accomplish.
Reader appeal — a clearly identifiable readership.
Professionalism — authors who take their work and the publishing process seriously.

Before you submit

Please make sure your manuscript or proposal is complete and carefully proofread. Your submission should include your contact information, a concise cover letter, a clear pitch, relevant comparable titles, and sample chapters that represent your strongest writing.

Please do not send multiple versions of the same submission unless requested.

A Final Word to Authors

We know that submitting a manuscript can be an act of courage. You may have spent months or years writing your book, encountered rejection, or be submitting your first manuscript without knowing whether anyone will open the door.

Send us your best work.

We cannot promise that every manuscript will be accepted. We can promise that selectivity is not the same as indifference. At Veritas Covenant Press, we believe worthwhile books can come from unexpected voices.

If you have something worth saying, we want to hear it.
