For Authors

The Veritas Publishing Process

A clear path from manuscript to finished book and from finished book to readers.

01

Submission & Evaluation

Authors submit a complete manuscript or proposal according to our submission guidelines. We consider editorial fit, writing quality, originality, substance, audience, and the overall potential of the work.

02

Acquisition & Agreement

If we believe a manuscript belongs on the Veritas list, we discuss publication and the terms of the author-publisher relationship. The publishing agreement defines the applicable rights, responsibilities, royalty terms, and other material conditions.

03

Editorial Development

The manuscript is prepared for publication through the level of developmental editing, line editing, copyediting, fact or consistency review, and proofreading appropriate to the project.

04

Title, Positioning & Metadata

We develop the title and subtitle where necessary and prepare the descriptive and bibliographic information used to position and identify the book for readers, retailers, booksellers, and libraries.

05

Cover Design

The cover is developed as a professional representation of the book, with attention to genre, readership, typography, imagery, print requirements, and digital presentation.

06

Interior Design & Formatting

The text is professionally prepared for its intended formats, including page layout, typography, chapter structure, front matter, notes, bibliography, page numbering, and ebook formatting where applicable.

07

ISBN, Bibliographic Information & Publication Data

We prepare the publication information associated with the edition, including ISBN information, publisher identification, edition, publication date, format, page count, trim size, copyright information, categories, keywords, and applicable library cataloging information.

08

Proofing & Final Approval

The final production files are checked before publication. Authors have an opportunity to review the final materials and identify corrections before the title is released.

09

Publication & Distribution

Eligible print and digital editions are made available through established retail, bookstore, and library distribution channels. Availability varies by format, territory, title eligibility, and channel.

10

Marketing, Publicity & Ongoing Support

The title is presented through the press's catalog and promotional channels, while authors are encouraged to participate actively in reaching relevant readers, bookstores, libraries, institutions, media, and communities.

11

Sales Reporting & Royalties

Sales are reported according to the applicable publishing agreement, with royalty statements and payments made according to its defined schedule and calculation method.

Publishing is a partnership.

No publisher can guarantee that every book will become a bestseller, and no distribution network can guarantee shelf placement. Our commitment is to provide a professional publishing process, clear communication, and a serious effort to give each accepted book the strongest possible opportunity to find its readers.
